Deborah Ann DESNOO (Plug In) - Producer and Director
Deborah DeSnoo graduated from New York University with a B.F.A. and began her career as an actor/director in NYC. In 1980 she made her first trip to Japan and spent three months studying Classical Japanese Dance. She returned in 1984 to study Noh and soon began producing and directing both theater and film in Japan and the US. In 1992 she was honored with a fellowship from the AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women and has been commuting between LA and Tokyo ever since. Fluent in Japanese, she holds the distinction of being the first foreign director invited to join the Japan Directors' Association. She also belongs to the DGA (Directors Guild of America) and the WGA (Writers Guild of America) and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In 2004, she produced, directed and wrote a three part film series entitled "JAPAN: Memoirs of a Secret Empire" which was nominated for an IDA Award - Limited Series.
Film wise, she is currently producing and directing a documentary entitled "GOING BACK TO ROOTS" and in development on two feature films.
Takahiro HAMANO (NHK) - Producer and Director
Takahiro Hamano has produced and directed more than 50 documentaries and news magazine shows, specializing in social issues, current affairs and war-related topics. In 2000, he studied Digital Technology for TV at AFI (American Film Institute). Since 2002, he has been co-producing HDTV programs with China, Canada and the U.S., including the Broadway Musical "KISS ME, KATE" with WNET(New York), "G" with Velocine (Quebec) and "DELAMU: Tea-Horse Road" with Tian Zhuangzhuang (director of "Blue Kite"). He has recently co-produced "WAR HOSPITAL" with NFB (Canada) and "STOLEN LIVES," a documentary about wartime internment of Japanese Latin Americans, with Tara Entertainment (US).
